Once the class is finalized, prepare Form TM-A with accurate details of the applicant, trademark, and user date if applicable. Submit Form TM-A through the official IP India e-filing portal. The application is filed online and an acknowledgment with an application number is generated immediately. The Kolkata Trademark Registry Office has jurisdiction for applicants based in West Bengal, but physical submission is not required as the process is fully digitized.
After filing, the Registry conducts a formality check to verify procedural compliance. For marks containing figurative elements or logos, the Vienna Classification code is assigned. If any discrepancies are found, the Registry may issue a formality check notice for compliance.
